Combat's New Concept
Yay, time for another concept
This idea revolves around two pairs of an Elementalist and a Mesmer who are designed to obliterate monks and are equally effective at killing other stuff. Each pair selects a monk and spikes at the exact same time, leaving both monks helpless. The builds are:
1 Ele/any
Mind Freeze[E]
Chilling Wind
Maelstrom
Glyph of Concentration
hexes(w/ damage)
Water Attunement
1 Mes/any
Recurring Insecurity[E]
Arcane Conundrum
Conjure Phantasm
Phantom Pain
Mantra of Resolve
Soul Barbs
Parasitic Bond
Usage:
The Mesmer casts Recurring Insecurity and the Ele casts Mind Freeze (after first casting Chilling Wind). The mesmer immediately casts Arcane Conundrum. Since Mind Freeze made Recurring Insecurity renew on top, there are now two hexes above Mind Freeze, meaning Expel Hexes on an enemy mesmer won't remove it. The mesmer casts Soul Barbs. After casting Mind Freeze the ele immediately casts Maelstrom. Both spam hexes to trigger Soul Barbs and Recurring Insecurity. The monk dies.
Both pairs should do the above at the exact same time. Continue doing this on the monks whenever able until they have a really high dp which will drastically reduce their effectiveness, severely weakening the opposing team (duh!).
NOTE: Depending on whether we can do without it or not, we might have to swap Recurring for Migraine to make SURE the monk can't cast anything.
(sits back and waits to get bombarded with people telling him this won't work)

Re: Combat's New Concept
Not much really: do a countdown, 3,2,1, the mesmer casts recurring, the ele sees the hex marker and BAM! mind freeze and they're off
Another alternative I thought of would be to use a Me/E with Gale who knocks the monk down to give three seconds of free hex casting time if the monks are in charge of hex removal (Probably use Migraine with that) (But if they have a mesmer in charge of hex removal, you're out of luck so i still like the Recurring Insecurity idea better)

Re: Combat's New Concept
maelstrom and max degen from the mesmer will give ~40+ dps (considering the mesmer can't cast all his hexes at once), mind freeze itself gives 80, every time you cast a hex they'll take 50ish damage from soul barbs and recurring insecurity and on top of that phantom pain gives a final, complimentary deep wound. Well over 500, maybe 600 i would say.
That's where the damage is Tearz.

Re: Combat's New Concept
should be about 10 secs, so its not really a spike, but if we consider the fact that they're slowed, they experience the world faster, therefore from the perspective of the character you're spiking, they think they're getting spiked
it is kind of a spike though because it has to be coordinated simultaneously

Re: Combat's New Concept
yeah but while you are killing the monks, the other team will also attack you, (BS, mes hex, all the usual pvp stuff) and the monks, which almost NEVER comes to the front line make it very hard to kill the monks rapidly in the begging of a match, be ra, ta (though it might work in ra, due to the randomness of it) gvg, ha, the enemy will act accordingly as they communciate or as they see fit (see as BS or hex the ele and mes).
while this build is good against monks, there is nothing protect the casters during this time, so unless you have 2 very good prot/heal monks focusing on these 4 and ignoring others (since if you want to pull this off in the begging, the eles and mes HAVE TO get to at least the frontline) but then you put the other members (including the monks) at risk of getting killed. So unless you retreat in the begging or somehow make the enemy monks come closer (yes, close, very close) this will be hard to pull off. But i don't think kill the monks rapidly is nesscessary, once the monks are dead The enemy will have no heal and they will be in chaos, thus they will be a good target for spiking or even just normal attack.
good build, hard to pull off.
